Untact concert: Busan Junggu's got talent

Live streaming

As COVID-19 pandemic has been continuing longer than we expected, Keeping your distance campaign has been positioned in our daily life to stop spreading the virus. As the result, many of concerts, sports, theaters, etc festivals in South Korea have been trying a new lifestyle which is called ‘Untact Concert’ where social distance is possible. That means to hold a concert through online platforms such as youtube live stream.

Busan Junggu's got talent

So last weekend, I got a chance to work as a staff in an untact concert which was held in Busan, South Korea. To be honest, I was super nervous because it was live untact concert! I didn’t even have any experiences about live concerts before so I literally had no feelings. Nevertheless I did, the concert went pretty well, was more fun than I expected and a good experience for sure. So let me show you how did the concert go in detail.

The concert hall for youtube live stream

Of course it was ‘untact’ concert so there was literally no audience which means we only needed minimal human beings such as some staff, camera team, participants and examiners.

Camera and lighting setup

Rehearsal before the performance

As you can see from the picture, there was literally no seats for audience except for staff, participants, etc.

Testing for live streaming

I think this part is the most important for untact concert. It's because they can control almost everything the concert needs. For instance, this is a live concert which unexpected situations could always happen. So, people who work here are able to deal with solving these problems quickly such as adding some effects or changing different cut rapidly.

Here is the place where mc had to be for introducing artists, contacting with the audience who watch the live streaming. Actually, I also had to stay and control here during the concert. So my responsibility here was to handle communication between director and mc. It was pretty complicating and confusing but I kind of made it in the end.

Live streaming

These photos are from real youtube live streaming. To be honest, the concert hall was kind of messy and busy, however from the screen of the live streaming, it looked really went well which was very attractive personally.

Overall, even though I was totally exhausted after the concert, it's a memorable experience I've ever had. I can never forget about it for sure!

A Pojangmacha street in Busan, South Korea Pojangmacha where you should definitely go in South Korea. This orange color tent bar is a tiny street restaurant which is based on small tents or street vendors. There are lots of street food such as tteokbokki, oden, gimbap, even anju which is Korean food consumed with Soju (Korean alcohol). Since long time ago, Korean workers go to pojangmacha to drink some alcohol with their co-workers or friends after getting off from work. Koreans feel that they can get release their stress as drinking soju with anju and talking honest stories that they couldn’t tell. If you like watching some K-drama, you might have seen pojangmacha scene at least once. One sad thing is that perception of pojangmacha seems a little different from the past. For instance, all the street food used to be really cheap like $1~5 per dish before, so people usually went to pojangmacha to enjoy their time without any burden of cost. However, these days some pojanmacha ar...
